At the VI Summit of the countries of the European Union and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, which is taking place in Madrid, Cuba declared the need to build relations between states based on respect for international law, without double morality and hegemony. The summit, held in the Spanish capital, was attended by 60 countries. Cuba was represented by the head of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez. It was he who made a statement about the need to create a management system that would be based on social justice and true democracy. The Cuban minister said that 56 percent of the population living in poverty is not at all against the rule of the world. However, this must be done in conditions of social justice and democracy.
Rodriguez noted that while the idea of respect for the sovereignty of countries and democracy looks like something fantastic. One has only to look at NATO doctrine, the military coup in Honduras, or the deployment of the United States military in Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the Cuban minister, the economic crisis that has engulfed the whole world is of a systemic nature. As countries speculate about its likely impacts, climate change continues to negatively impact European states that are unwilling to repay their environmental debt. In order to prevent a financial crisis, it is necessary to pay attention to the difference in attitude towards this between the countries of the European Union and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. It is worth considering Latin American not as separate countries, but as a set of independent states, whose population is about 570 million people and which have a large supply of resources and a high level of national culture.
