Russian oil companies can become world leaders in terms of production and a key oil-producing region, said Russian President D. BUT. Medvedev stressing the need for further technological progress.
President Medvedev during his visit to Western Siberia in his speech continues to insist on economic innovation. Russia, as an oil superpower, must first of all modernize its energy complex. Despite its vast resources, Russia cannot use them effectively with the technology inherited from the old Soviet technology.
“Honestly, most of the technological solutions and equipment used in production are all of foreign origin, and this is especially true with equipment. Our task is to make sure that these technologies are produced locally”.
President wants Russian companies to focus on deep oil refining technologies.
The Priapskoya oil field launched by Rosneft is a good example of how modern technologies are raising the lower limit of production, but this is an exception to the rule. Here you can see everything: from 3D modeling of future fields to the processing of associated gas.
As part of an innovation strategy, Russia wants to create its own Silicon Valley. Viktor Vekselberg, the head of the Renova group, will be coordinating this ambitious project, and he says it will take at least five years before the first enterprises start operating.
“Of course, traditionally we have to start with the creation of an organized structure, prepare official decisions. We must confirm the number of personnel required. People believe in this project and see in it the meaning of life for the next 5 years, and not as Sisyphean labor. This is a task that must be turned into concrete results”.
But before these grandiose plans become a reality, the President of Russia has yet to focus on the development of energy-saving technologies, in Russia the losses are huge.
