The global perfume brand Guerlain has a two hundred year history behind it. Regardless of age or thanks to it, Guerlain still surprises its fans to this day.
The history of the brand began in the distant 1828. At this time, Pierre Guerlain set out to open a soap factory. By education, Guerlain was a chemist, and by nature – an admirer of female beauty. Combining these two qualities together, Pierre creates his first fragrance compositions. The release of Senteurs des Champs was very successful and wholesale perfumes sold out in a matter of time. A real sensation!
Guerlain does not stop there and creates a fragrance for Napoleon III himself – it was the Imperiale perfume. A bee was engraved on the bottle and Guerlain, with hope and apprehension, presented this perfume as a wedding gift to the emperor. The perfumer’s fears did not come true and Napoleon was simply delighted and favors Guerlain in his personal perfumers. Since that time, honeycombs have become the brand logo as a symbol of success.
In 1864, Pierre Guerlain died and the sons of the great master took his place. Gabrielle Guerlain develops the business, while Emme creates fragrances and more. Thanks to their efforts, the famous red lipstick was born in 1870.
In 1889, the Jicky fragrance was created, its feature was the combination of synthetic natural ingredients. Romantic perfumes were sold in bulk by women and men as a gift to loved ones.
In 1910, the management of Guerlain passes into the hands of Emme’s nephews, Jacques and Pierre. And again, only one of the brothers creates the fragrance, and the second manages. So, Jacques creates Shalimar, which is still very popular to this day. His creations are also famous l’heure bleue and Mitsouko, filled with love, sensuality and passion.
Further, the perfumery is adopted by the grandson of Jean Jean Paul, who helped his grandfather in creating the famous ODE series, their perfume is exported by a big in bulk to all the corners of the planets. Although Jacques did not really want to give the brothers to the Board of the Company to the grandson, due to the lack of education, but Jean Paul proved that he was a perfumer from God, creating the aroma of a daffodil from synthetic components.
In 1960, the men’s line of flavors Vetiver appeared, then the female perfumes Chat D’AROMS, SAMSARA and are specially created for the Great Catherine Deneu Spirits Chamade.
But the commercial vein of Jean Paul, nevertheless, was not enough and in 1994 he sells LVMH Guerlain Empire.
