As it became known, in the near future a serious scandal may erupt between the governments of South Korea and Japan. The cause of the incident was school textbooks produced by the Land of the Rising Sun.
The South Korean government sent an official letter to the leadership of the neighboring country with a request to look into this issue and make all necessary adjustments. The complaint was forwarded to the Deputy Chief of the Japanese Embassy in the capital of South Korea, who is supposed to deliver it to its destination.
As it became known, the geographical disputes that arose as a result of studying the content of some textbooks served as the basis for the scandalous situation. In fifteen of the twenty-one school books approved by the Ministry of Education of Japan, the Dokdo Islands, territorially related to the Land of the Rising Sun, are for some reason called Takeshima.
The South Korean foreign minister said the government lodge strongly protested this misrepresentation. He also proposed to immediately make all the necessary amendments to the textbooks, because the information presented in them is false.
It should be noted that the emergence of a conflict situation on a particular issue is a fairly common occurrence in the relationship between these two eastern countries. In particular, disputes over the Dokdo Islands have been going on for several years. The Japanese government refers this territory to the Chukto Island, and the leadership of the Republic of Korea to the Usando Islands, and the latter relies on reliable ancient sources that the other side does not take into account.
There is no permanent population on the disputed islands, there is only a police station with 37 law enforcement officers, several administrative representatives of the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries and lighthouse keepers. All of the above people live on the islands in shifts.
