“If the issue of the Lviv landfill is not resolved in the near future – we are promised to approve the project for the phased closure of the landfill by April 2011 – we will be forced to do what we did – block the race,” such a statement was made today, February 1, by the chairman of the Zhovkivsky district council Thaddeus Shvay.
He took part in a joint meeting of the Commission on Ecology, Natural Resources and Recreation of the Lviv Regional Council and the Commission on Nature Management, Environmental Protection and Improvement of the Lviv City Council, which took place in the Lviv Regional Council.
Representatives of local communities and other state bodies also took part in the meeting. Again raised the issue of closing the Lviv landfill in Gribovichi. In particular, the results of a study conducted by Lviv Polytechnic and the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine in the Lviv region were discussed.
